Colpitts Poetry at Redhills: A Fiftieth Birthday Celebration

Colpitts Poetry is fifty, and to mark the occasion we’re staging a novel and exciting relaunch event at Durham Miners Hall. This will take the form of a ‘retrospective’ and fundraiser, in which a number of our committee members past and present will read poems by a sample of the 440-plus readers who have performed at Colpitts between its foundation in 1975 and 2017 when we held our last regular reading. From Fleur Adcock to Harry Zevenbergen, Gillian Allnutt to Derek Walcott, we’ve presented a vast range of different poetries over the course of our existence, and this evening offers a chance to hear what should be a fascinating cross-section of this work.

There’ll be a bar, with tea and coffee also available, and the venue is fully accessible. This is a ticketed event.
