Redhills Durham

the future
we build

We will harness our living heritage to revitalise our Durham Coalfield communities.

what is redhills durham?

The past we inherit, the future we build: Redhills Durham has been constituted as a charity to serve as stewards of Redhills Durham Miners’ Hall on behalf of Durham Coalfield communities. We have a clear mission to harness our living heritage to revitalise our coalfield communities, we will do this by:

Re-establishing Redhills Durham Miners’ Hall as a focal point for the living heritage and culture of County Durham’s coalfield communities.

Revitalising and reactivating County Durham’s Coalfield communities.

Reach beyond County Durham to extend and deepen conntections, impact and learning.

Our offer at durham miners’ hall

A Centre of Education, heritage and culture for Durham Coalfield communities

Redhills Durham Miners’ Hall will become a hub of cultural activity, where community groups can meet, brass bands and choirs of the county can perform, and artistic talent can showcase their work.

The 60 banner groups that proudly maintain their Durham Coalfield communities’ colours and parade them every year at the Miners’ Gala will have a shared home. We’re incredibly lucky to have the support of many trades unions, trusts and foundations and our funders, including our primary funders: National Heritage Lottery Fund, Durham Miners’ Association and Durham County Council.
